Background

Tabitha was born in 1986 into a low-income family. Due to financial hardship, she was only able to complete her education up to Class 8. With limited opportunities, she began working as a house help at a young age to support herself.

In 2004, she got married hoping for stability and a better future. Unfortunately, the marriage did not last. She later remarried and moved to Marurui in search of a fresh start.

Tabitha is a mother of two children: A 4-year-old child who currently lives with her mother due to financial challenges and is not attending school. And 10-month-old baby who is fully dependent on her care.

Her current husband struggles with alcoholism, creating instability in the home. Over time, due to stress and emotional hardship, Tabitha also fell into substance use, including alcohol and miraa. This deepened her financial and personal struggles.
However, she has recently begun the journey of withdrawal and recovery. She is determined to rebuild her life and create a better future for her children.
Despite significant challenges, Tabitha has hair braiding course though she cannot do the trending hair styles.

Currently, she is a casual laborer washing clothes for households and doesn’t have any regular income.

Tabitha was thrown out of her house by her husband and now depends fully on well-wishers and friends for accommodation and food sometimes she sleeps hungry and outside with her 10 months old baby.

Tabitha seeks support that can take her through vocational upgrading and small business development.
